In the year of 2012, Children in Need donated a total of $10,123 to the following charities:
World Vision Sponsorship Program - Niger
In May, 2012, our club donated $210 to the World Vision Sponsorship Program to continue a 6-month sponsorship of the boy in Niger. In April, we held a bake sale at San Domenico High School and raised $134.12 as part of this donation.
In October, 2012, our club donated another $210 to the World Vision Sponsorship Program. A portion of the donation came from the bake sale held at San Domenico High School by Children in Need in October. Total proceed of $113 from the bake sale plus money from previous year helped us continuously support the boy in Niger for the following 6 months.
eSicabazini Girls' Scholarship Program - South Africa
"In the northeastern corner of KwaZulu-Natal South Africa, dozens of the girls in the remote community of Esicabazini are defying the odds stacked against them by poverty to excel and advance in school. With the help of scholarships awarded for their academic performances, these exceptional young role models are blazing a trail at eSibonisweni Primary School and Dumangeze High School for younger girls to follow."
On May 11, 2012, Children in Need held a benefit concert at Saint Mark's School in San Rafael to raise money for the impoverished but motivated young girls in South Africa. Saint Mark's school and eSicabazini Girls' Scholarship Program have been partners since 2007. The total amount raised was $3,000 and all the proceeds will benefit the Girls' Scholarship Program.
"SEAPC, with the approval of the King of Cambodia, is in the process of establishing 25 schools in rual parts of the kingdom to provide quality education for the children in those areas. Currently, our school in Rongko, Banteay Meanchey province, has been hailed as the best in the province after only one year of our curriculum. At this time, construction is beginning for a teaching and agricultural college in the village of Rongko."
In August, 2012, Children in Need donated $500 to the SEAPC operation in Cambodia. Through private funding, Children in Need was able to give the money to the needy children in Cambodia to improve their education and lives.
On December 21, 2012, Children in Need held a benefit concert with SEAPC for the Cambodian orphans. The concert raised $900 for the 8 orphanages SEAPC currently oversees in Cambodia.
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford
"Lucile Packard Children's Hospital is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Thanks to community philanthropy, Packard caregivers deliver the best pediatric and obstetric medicine available and Stanford scientists discover new cures to treat children worldwide."
In September, 2012, thanks to the parents of Peggy Cui, Children in Need was able to donate $500 to the Dialysis Center at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. This donation will provide monetary support for the uncompensated children who receive dialysis treatment at the Children's Hospital at Stanford.
On October 28, 2012, Children in Need held a benefit concert for the uncompensated children who receive dialysis treatment at the Children's Hospital at Stanford. The concert has raised a total of $500.
World Vision US Disaster Response Fund - Sandy Storm Victims in the U.S.
"As the East Coast begins recovering from the devastation of Superstorm Sandy, World Vision relief teams are responding with pre-positioned supplies - flood clean-up kits, hygiene kits, blankets, and food kits - to help families and children hardest hit by the storm."
In December, in response to the relief efforts by World Vision for the Sandy Storm victims, Children in Need has raised and donated a total of $313 to World VisionUS Disaster Response Fund. Sources of money came from donation from the president of Fermata Group, Joyce Kwon and money collection from Cherry Yuan's street busking. On top of that, Peggy Cui, the president of Appassionato Group also designed and sold club's sweatshirts.
ABS CBN Foundation International - Typhoon Bopha Victims in the Philippines
"ABS CBN Foundation International is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantage Filipino families in the Philippines and around the world. As Typoon Bopha swept through schools, clinics and homes, ABS CBN's volunteers were already on the ground, braving through debris and mud, making sure no one is left behind."
In December, Cioppino's Restaurant and Louie Linguini's announced to donate $250 respectively for a total of $500 in the name of Children in Need to ABS CBN Foundation International. This donation was to help children and families impacted by the Supertyphoon Bopha which was the strongest typhoon ever recorded in Mindanao. 52-foot waves were recorded at nearby seaside towns.
Raphael House - First Homeless Shelter in San Francisco
"Raphael House, the first shelter for children and families experiencing homelessness in Northern California, provides an environment of loving support where families are able to move toward brighter and more hopeful future."
On December 16, 2012, Children in Need held a benefit concert at the beautiful home of Tyler Leswing. More than 80 guests attended the concert. With one hour of classical music and another hour of jazz music, the concert was well received by the audience. The total money raised was $3,490 for Raphael House.
